In the early 1990s, Virginia & Truckee Railroad enthusiasts along with Storey County, Carson City and Nevada state officials began studying the possibility of reconstructing the historic rail line between Virginia City and Carson City. The non-profit V&T Railway Commission was created to raise money for the project after a financial study indicated that the railroad was feasible. Extraordinary progress has been made since so that today the public can enjoy the railway and our area's rich history in all its splendor.
