Yes, Carson City is the site of the Nevada state government, and, yes, our city has legalized gambling. But, still, the Carson City community is just like that in any of the other small cities across the country. It's full of normal people who, as Jimmy Stewart's George Bailey noted, "do most of the working and paying and living...." And that means that there are tons of community-oriented events and activities here. For example, you can catch story time at the library, do some shopping at a seasonal market, bazaar or festival, take a guided walk through the historic district, watch a movie with the cinema club or read a novel with the book club. You can meet up with the Soroptimists, the Kiwanis, the Rotarians, the Elks, the Masons or one of the other many civic and service organizations. The Carson City community offers opportunities to work or volunteer with nonprofit groups to help the homeless, assist veterans, support the arts and protect the environment. No matter what your special interest, whether political or recreational, artistic or educational, you'll find that there's a group of like-minded people here in the Carson City community, and they'd be more than happy to have you join right in.
