For 150 years, the Nevada State Prison played an important role in the State of Nevada, protecting its citizens, influencing its architecture, providing employment, and amassing an impressive list of historically significant events.
After Nevada State Prison was decommissioned, the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society was formed as a non-profit on November 1, 2012 with the goal of preserving, interpreting, and developing this important site for the education of present and future generations.
