Whitewater Rafting on the Carson River

The Carson River is off to the east of Carson City, and while some of the town’s parks and recreation takes the waterway into account, the Capitol City isn’t really a river city in the way that Reno is. Access to the river can be tricky and it really has the feel of being out and away from civilization. But a savvy river rat can still find some whitewater on the Carson City stretch from the Carson River Park to the Morgan Mill Road river access. Keep a watch on the volume and flow of the river and keep in touch with the local sporting goods retailers and you can catch Class I-II rapids here if you time it just right.
