On the Lake Lahontan reservoir south of Gardnerville, the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery Complex is a fishery program containing the Marble Bluff Fish Passage Facility, the Fishery Assistance program and the fish hatchery for artificial breeding. The complex aids in the reproduction of endangered species of native fish, including the Lahontan cutthroat trout. It is open to the public for visits on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Or call to schedule a comprehensive tour of the facility and learn about its aquatic inhabitants as well as some Nevada and Carson Valley animal history.
