Having been built in 2000, the structure at the corner of Eddy Street and U.S. Highway 395 doesn't date back to Gardnerville's original historic downtown era. But while built with all the conveniences of modern times, Historian Inn was designed with and has the look and feel of the distinctive, classic architecture of the time. The construction and decor are enriched with the colors, textures and natural materials of Nevada and the Sierra Nevada and have influences of the Gold Rush era. Celebrating the legacy of the American frontier and the spirit if the West, the hotel recently completed a room by room renovation with historic artwork, photography and artifacts blended with custom designed furniture, wood floors and bed coverings. The 35-room hotel is a completely nonsmoking facility and offers standard hotel rooms, superior hotel rooms, suites and the Genoa Room featuring a queen Murphy bed and a large meeting space along with a full kitchen. The standard hotel rooms have one king bed, the hotel's signature amenities and a large shared balcony overlooking Highway 395. No pets are allowed in these rooms. The superior rooms are larger and feature a choice of one king bed or two queen beds with signature amenities plus a seating area with chairs and table. The hotel suites are the largest rooms including one king bed and a sleeper sofa, signature amenities and large seating are with couch and chairs.
Signature amenities mean all the exceptional complimentary amenities you would expect at a fine inn including wireless internet throughout the property, convenient honor bar items and free coffee in every room. Historian Inn is a very pet friendly hotel offering dog-friendly welcome baskets, walking areas and the East to West Coast Grooming Pet Salon on the property. The hotel also offers special added amenities for returning guests when they book direct. The Market Cafe in the hotel is an eclectic boutique of food, snacks, wine, beer and spirits plus a unique selection of gifts and sundries. You can enjoy a grab and go breakfast served in the Market Cafe each morning, and there are plans to expand the foods offered in the cafe. There is a large, comfortable historically decorated room that hosts a variety of special events at the hotel, including Second Sunday High Tea, Bloody Mary Sundays, tastings, artisan exhibits and classes. There are facilities to accommodate groups, and the hotel considers any collection of folks with mutual interests that will be using seven or more individual rooms for a total of 14 or more room nights a group eligible for discount pricing.
