Mormon Station was originally settled by Mormon travelers along the California Trail in the mid-1800s. It's Nevada's oldest non-native settlement, now in the center of Genoa. On site is a replica of the first trading outpost, now housing a museum full of artifacts and relics of those early pioneer days. The park itself, within the tall wooden fence of the station, is open from May to October and hosts a number of presentations and events throughout the year. There are picnic tables, shady trees and cookout grills for public use, and there is a pavilion on the Mormon Station grounds that can hold up to 250 visitors; it's available for rent by reservation. Mormon Station is one of the most historic spots in Carson Valley. Take a day in Genoa and tour its museum, then spend some time inside the scenic park.
