Since the late 19th century, this Victorian mansion in downtown Gardnerville has operated as a hotel, saloon and dining room, always family owned. Basque immigrant brothers purchased it in 1960 and carried the building's previous half-century of traditions, as well as their Basque heritage, into the present day. Now J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room is run by a second generation of the same family as a warm and welcoming restaurant and bar with preserved historic decor. Walking in is like stepping back in time. Try their multi-course family-style meals at lunch or dinner. The patio is open for warm weather, and the saloon is always full of locals honoring Basque tradition with a Picon Punch. The dining hall is available for rent for parties of up to 100.
