Those who don't live here tend to think of Carson City solely in terms of government, as the capital city of Nevada. Granted, our town isn't very large. (At least when compared against other cities nationwide, that is; as far as communities within the Silver State go, we do rank among the largest.) And, yes, being the seat of state government does have a huge impact on the character of Carson City. But there is also so much more here that most people don't realize. For one thing, the story of the founding and growth of the city is enough to keep a history buff entertained for years. Our community is also a hotspot for both fine and performing arts. Western Nevada College offers a range of opportunities for higher education, and the city is home to one of the largest selections of medical and healthcare providers in the state.
Of course, Carson City is the capital of the state known for games of chance, so you'll also find a casino or two here. They usually offer some great dining, entertainment and other activities to go along with the gambling, so don't be surprised if you find that the Carson City casinos are similar to the city itself -- full of unexpected surprises with a lot more to them than you ever realized.
