Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation Brings “Yappy Hour” to Sierra Chef in Genoa
Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation (WARF) is hosting a casual al fresco Yappy Hour on Tuesday, July 9, from 4-6 PM at Genoa’s Sierra Chef. The popular catering company and cooking school will be providing delicious complimentary nibbles and wine and beer will be available for purchase in keepsake WARF glasses. Canine companions are invited to attend. WARF is raising awareness about its new Animal Sanctuary under construction in Stagecoach. Yappy Hour is open to the public and admission is free.
The Yappy Hour features a tempting raffle with prizes designed for summer fun, including a tasting tour for four at the new Bently Heritage Distillery, tickets for the Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, and Maui Jim Sunglasses. There’s also a silent auction featuring stays at some of Lake Tahoe’s favorite hotels and resorts, as well as a catamaran tour on the Sierra Cloud.
Sierra Chef is an Italian gourmet shop, catering company and cooking school located in the heart of historic Genoa. Its shady patio is a favorite venue for gourmet gatherings.
WARF has built its reputation over years of animal rescue in Northern Nevada and has a network of fosters who work tirelessly to provide respite care for cats and dogs. The Sanctuary will enable WARF to take on more rescues, including long-term cases and animals who may not be candidates for adoption. A generous bequest funded the purchase of Sanctuary land and a caretaker’s home. The Sanctuary’s cattery, kennels and other facilities are being constructed continuously as additional funds are raised.
“We want to spread the word about our Sanctuary project,” says Donna Coombs, the organization’s director. “We’re very excited about this much-needed addition to animal welfare in our area.”
