About the artist:
Born in Dallas, Texas, Wayne began writing songs at just 12 years old, inspired by classic country storytelling. At 18, he won the Wrangler Country Showdown, then proudly served four years in the United States Marine Corps 🇺🇸 even penning his beloved track “Cold Lonesome Wind” during a deployment in Okinawa.
After relocating to Austin, Texas, Wayne’s career accelerated. Encouraged by Joe Ely and working alongside members of The Flatlanders, he recorded his breakout album Thunderstorms and Neon Signs (produced by Grammy Award winner Lloyd Maines), launching a career that has spanned decades and earned him a fiercely loyal fan base. His marathon performances often stretching 3, 4, even 5 hours are the reason he earned the nickname: “The Train.”
From his 1995 debut to his eighth studio album Slingin’ Rhythm, Wayne has stayed true to his roots while influencing a new generation of outlaws, including Hank Williams III, who covered multiple Hancock tracks.
Even after overcoming a serious motorcycle accident in 2014, Wayne came roaring back fully recovered and stronger than ever and will be sharing his music with all of us live!
