Saturday Hike to Galena Falls Trail Sponsored by Muscle Powered
Join Muscle Powered on this leader-led hike. An easy intermediate hike for those of you who like shorter hikes. This is a busy popular trail at a high elevation, with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and a beautiful waterfall at our endpoint. This will be a 5-mile hike round-trip with a little over 500 feet gain through the hike. The single track trail begins near the parking lot at the top of Mt. Rose Highway. Most of the trail is dirt but some areas are a bit rocky. Hikers must be able to hike this distance and keep up with the group, especially at this high elevation, about 9,00 feet. Coming back to the parking lot is uphill most of the way.
Meet at 7:15 am at the Save Mart on the corner of College Parkway and N . Carson Street, along the south facing wall of the building to carpool or caravan up to the trailhead on Mt. Rose Highway. It's a 45 minute drive from the north end of Carson City.
Sorry no dogs on our weekend hikes. If you come on your own in the future, dogs are required to be leashed on this trail. Closed toed hiking shoes, water and a snack. Hiking poles are highly recommended. Contact Debbie Lane at Debbie.lane102@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
