Carson City's southern-most casino takes its name from the popular ranch-themed Bodines Restaurant and Saloon that occupied the site for more than 20 years next to the fairgrounds and Fuji Park. The casino facility is now a modern-themed structure with plenty of lighted outdoor and underground parking off Highway 395 on the way to Minden and Gardnerville, just south of Highway 50 at the Spooner Summit turnoff. Bodines has 280 of the newest slot and video poker machines, a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two large bars in its spacious and open, well-decorated casino interior. The Sportsbook has a full wall of 50-inch plasma televisions and specializes in pari-mutuel horse race betting. That's only fitting since Bodines owner, Mike Pegram, is also a nationally famous racehorse owner with 2010 Preakness Stakes winner Looking at Lucky and 1998 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Real Quiet among his many successful steeds.
