2017 Carson River Watershed "Get on the Bus" Tour
CARSON CITY—Join us to explore the Carson River Watershed on a two-day bus tour. The Carson Water Subconservancy District is offering a bus tour of the Carson River Watershed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on June 6 and 7, 2017. The Carson River Watershed “Get on the Bus” Tour will cover a variety of watershed topics and locations from the headwaters in Alpine County, CA to the terminus at the Carson Sink near Fallon, NV.
Among the expected stops are Carson River restorations in Hope Valley, Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, The Nature Conservancy’s River Fork Ranch, Quill Water Treatment Plant in Carson City, the Borda Ranch in Lyon County, Buckland Station, Stillwater Wildlife Refuge, and Lahontan Dam.
Experts will cover several topics including water rights, river restoration projects, water quality and quantity, floodplain management, invasive species, tribal programs, agriculture, recreation, fisheries and habitat, and education/outreach programs.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided each day. Videos and discussions will keep travelers informed en route between stops.
