Carson Chamber Singers Present "Travel With Me"
The Carson Chamber Singers kicks off its 41st season with "Travel with Me," a concert at First United Methodist Church in Carson City.
For the Singers’ first concert with Director Jordan Gotchy, they invite the audience to travel through time and place, featuring music from the 1500s to today, by composers from England, Canada, and throughout the U.S. The concert’s title is from a song by Scott Farthing with text inspired by Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road.” The lyrics say, “Let’s go! Whoever you are, let’s go! Come travel with me.”
General admission tickets to the concert are $18 each. Discount tickets for seniors (age 62 plus), students, and members of the Carson City Symphony Association are $15. Youth ages 18 and under are admitted free.
Founded in 1985 as a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association, the Carson Chamber Singers is open to singers high-school age and above. They perform in five or more concerts each year. They have sung with the Reno Philharmonic and sing regularly with the Carson City Symphony. They have performed at several venues in northern Nevada and as far west as Sacramento.
Carson City Symphony Association concerts are supported in part by public funds through grants from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, from Carson City, and by private donations.
