Walk Us Home 5K to Support Foster Kids
The Division of Child and Family Services, Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services, invites the community to participate in the second annual Walk Us Home 5K for Foster Homes on April 27th in Carson City.
The 5-kilometer run/walk will raise funds to send Northern Nevada kids in foster care to Camp Rennervation, a summer camp operated by actor and Northern Nevada resident Jeremy Renner's charitable foundation.
Prizes will be awarded to top finishers across multiple categories.
In addition to the run that starts at Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City, CASA of Carson City will host a resource fair with information on services. The event also includes children’s games and live music.
“April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. We wanted to create an event that will help bring awareness while supporting summer camp programs for Northern Nevada kids in foster care,” said Shelby Riley, LSW, Nevada’s Rural Foster Care Recruiter, DCFS.
