Live the Good Life on the Carson City Wine Walk

By Dan Bablinskas | Tuesday, May 19, 2026

Wine-drinking usually elicits images of dimly lit rooms, swank interiors and upper-crust living, which is all fine and good, but that image forgets the other side of wine — the one of casual outdoor drinking in old Europe’s outdoor plazas, a pastime for people from all walks of life.

The Carson City Wine Walk helps recreate the more casual wine culture with an opportunity to enjoy Carson’s bustling downtown with a glass of wine in hand. During the Wine Walk you can stroll through downtown, interact with vendors and local artisans as you visit shops, view art on display, listen to live music and just enjoy time outside with friends, family and community.

Wine Every Month

If memory serves me right, in years past the wine walk was shut down for winter. Now the wine walk takes place every month of the year, no matter the weather or temperature.

With the motto “Saturdays are Better Downtown,” the Wine Walk takes place the first Saturday afternoon of each month, only skipping July 4 in 2026 due to the Independence Day celebration. Each month’s event has a dress theme. Partakers are encouraged to add to the festivity of the Wine Waik by following the month’s guidelines, which range from Punk Rock Revival and Holiday Training Camp to this coming month’s Thrift Store Prom.

Artown Experience Without the Fluff

Carson City’s Wine Walk serves a similar role as Artown does in Reno, but with Carson’s lower-key attitude. Picture yourself talking to a local craftsman about their work while you enjoy a sip of the shop’s Merlot, then going into an art gallery and chatting with the artist while trying a Cabernet. After that, stop at the Brewery Arts Center or a local pub and watch a live band play mix of jazz, blues and rock. This is the Wine Walk experience.

Tickets and Other Specifics

Tickets for the Wine Walk must be purchased in advance online. Tickets are available until 11 a.m. on the day of each event, but there is a strict policy of no buying tickets in person.

For first-timers, the ticket costs $25 and will include a Carson City wine walk glass. You can reuse the glass at future events and save $5 on admission going forward.

The event starts at the Brewery Arts Center between 1  on the first Saturday of every month unless noted otherwise. You must be 21 to participate and wear a wristband throughout the event. Also, you have to arrive between 1 PM and 3 PM to redeem your ticket on the day of the event. Arrivals after 3 p.m. will not be allowed to participate.

All these guidelines keep the Wine Walk running smoothly and allow us to enjoy this rare opportunity to legally sip a glass of wine on the city streets in arguably Nevada’s best downtown. Hope to see you on June 6 in your best interpretation of Thrift Store Prom!
