The Minden-Gardnerville area has experienced extraordinary growth in recent years, and its culinary scene has expanded by leaps and bounds.
Not long ago Minden was just a small farming community in the vicinity of Carson City, but now it’s a good-sized town with many restaurants that are worth seeking out.
Working from north to south, here are seven great restaurants to check out next time you are in the Minden-Gardnerville area.

Tuk Tuk Thai Restaurant
Minden is more than just burgers and fries, and Tuk Tuk Thai proves that. A local guide, JP, puts in his review, “The food here is way better than most Thai places,” and notes that they have had to stop serving inside after 4 p.m. due to the quantity of takeout orders they receive in the evening.
The chicken satay and pineapple fried rice are two of their specialties, but they also offer traditional dishes like pad Thai and coconut milk soup. If you want some takeout in the evening or are looking for a lunch or really early dinner, this is a great location to try out.

La Hacienda del Sazon
Minden has a lot of competition when it comes to Mexican food, but La Hacienda del Sazon is the best all-around choice if you favor an authentically Mexican dining experience with top-notch food.
Tucked away on the corner of highways 395 and 88, its exterior looks a bit like a little hole in the wall, but don't let that fool you. Inside, there is great food awaiting. On warm evenings, you can enjoy outdoor patio seating with stunning mountain views while you eat your Mexican food.
Enchiladas and fajitas are the staples here, which pair well with Mexican beer and margaritas. The salsas are neither excessively spicy nor salty, but are rather flavored with a potpourri of spices that enhance these authentic dishes. Seafood is no stranger to the menu either, with ceviche and shrimp fajitas being excellent choices. There’s something for everyone at La Hacienda del Sazon.

Carson Valley Steak
The high-end steak dinner lives on in Minden. If you have a formal event or business dinner, or just want a fancy night out on the town, CV Steak at the Carson Valley Inn is the place to be. We’re talking mouthwatering buttery steaks and other roasted meats with a side of vegetables and starches artfully situated.
Prices aren’t as high as you’d expect for a steak house of this caliber – certainly not what you’d be paying in Reno. There is a $29 Sunset special all-inclusive meal, as well as $11.50 martinis and $8 Bulleit Old-Fashioneds – killer prices for what you get.
For a memorable experience embodying the best of French-style cooking of classic American dishes, head over to CV Steak.

Great Basin Brewing Co.
Great Basin Brewing set up shop in Minden in 2024, making this the fourth Great Basin in northern Nevada. Known for its Icky IPA, named after the Ichthyosaurus that swam around the Great Basin millions of years ago, Great Basin has grown from a local brewery to be one of the staple restaurant breweries in the region, occupying the same place Schat’s does for café-bakeries.
The food here is reliable and kid-friendly, and the Minden location has a very brewery-warehouse feel to it that many will find lowkey and welcoming. Think pizza, burgers, chicken wings, sandwiches, all paired with a variety of in-house brews. This is the location to take your friends and family when you want a no-frills fun afternoon or evening out.

Overland Restaurant
If you want something between Great Basin and CV Steak, kind of a higher-end brew pub, then Overland Restaurant is the obvious choice. Here you can get American classics, such as burgers, fries and steaks, prepared and served in an artful manner. The menu also has wine, salads and Ahi tuna steaks, to name a few, giving this eatery a bit more culinary variety.
In the summer, the outdoor seating on the patio here is hard to beat, and the whole place has a rustic, whiskey-cask feel to it. For something refined where you can still feel comfortable entering in your flip flops, Overland Restaurant is the place.

J T Basque Bar & Dining Room
No visit of Minden would be complete without a trip to a Basque eatery. J T Basque Bar & Dining Room gives you that old family-style Basque eating experience, similar to that of Louis Basque Corner in downtown Reno.
Here you get all-inclusive meals for around $40 per person, which includes appetizers, entree, drinks, coffee and dessert, with smaller plates at a lower cost available during the lunch time.
Basque eateries are always a fun outing for a family or work outing. Unique options like sweet meats and lamb chops are always good to try to taste a bit of Nevada history.

The Club House
Furthest south, down by the Carson Valley Golf Course with which it is affiliated, is The Club House, an expansive open building known for its lunches, dinners and live outdoor music, all with a view of the golf course and the awe-inspiring Carson Range.
Overall, The Club House has a casual vibe in the main room, and Saturday night live music throughout the year really gives this place an unforgettable local appeal. But The Club House also has formal dining rooms for catered events, so it’s a favorite for business parties, weddings and birthdays. The coconut breaded shrimp and ribeye steak are both well-regarded favorites on the menu, but with an ample selection of burgers, sandwiches, draft beers and wine and a dedicated kids menu, The Club House is an amazing place to visit at any time of year and for any time of event.
Believe it not, there are even more restaurants to choose from in Minden, and this list just touches upon some of the highlights. So, if you’re looking for something new and are willing to drive 15 minutes south from Carson, check out Minden’s restaurants! For more great dining options, see our Carson City Restaurants section.
