Bently Heritage is one of those rare entities, a business that preserves and honors the past as it makes its mark looking forward to the future. It is an estate distillery located in the historic heart of town, and it bears one of the most high-profile family names in the valley. Visitors are welcome to tour the facility and learn how grains from the local Bently Ranch are used to create spirits such as vodka, gin and, eventually, whiskey. But you don’t have to take the tour in order to stop in for a drink at the tasting bar and to enjoy an unparalleled valley view along with a small-bite food pairing. Bently Heritage should also be on the to-do list of history buffs and sustainability enthusiasts. The tour includes both the historic Mill and Creamery buildings (the Mill is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and its restoration has brought it up to LEED certification standards) as well as the Bently collection of classic cars. Tours are available Thursday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tasting Room hours are Thursday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors must be 21 or older.
